Wallpaper - Backyard Boss VIII

Our Backyard Boss VIII wallpaper by Anne Tavoletti brings a charming country character to the wall with an illustrated rooster set inside a decorative oval medallion against a bold blue and white gingham check backdrop. The hand-painted look of the rooster showcases warm shades of tan, red, ochre, and deep blue, bordered by a delicate scalloped edge that stands out against the woven-looking plaid pattern. Produced made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, it offers a distinct, expressive accent for home spaces.

In the room

We love seeing this design make a statement on an accent wall in a kitchen, dining area, or cozy breakfast nook. The graphic contrast between the classic blue plaid and the centered rooster vignette gives the mural wallpaper a welcoming, rustic warmth that draws immediate attention. In an open-plan kitchen or dining room, placing our wallpaper behind a rustic dining table or along a breakfast nook wall creates an inviting focal point without overwhelming the rest of the space.

For smaller entryways or utility rooms, the crisp blue check brings structure and personality to walls that might otherwise feel plain. Because the central medallion provides a strong vertical anchor, it works especially well on a wall area that is not obscured by tall cabinetry or large furniture, letting the full motif take center stage.

Styling it

To complement the country aesthetic of this wallpaper, we suggest pairing it with simple, warm interior elements that let the design shine:

• Choose painted furniture or warm, natural wood tones such as pine or honey oak to enhance the classic cottage appeal.
• Bring in simple white or cream ceramics, vintage-inspired tableware, and understated brass or antique iron hardware to balance the detailed rooster motif.
• Keep surrounding textiles quiet with plain off-white, oat, or unbleached cotton accents rather than competing patterns.

Colour combinations

The design itself is anchored by a rich navy and cobalt blue check on a crisp off-white ground, accented with warm terracotta reds, ochre yellows, and dark slate blue across the rooster.

When choosing paint colors for surrounding walls and woodwork, we recommend echoing the cream or warm white base of the plaid to keep the room feeling bright and open. Soft buttermilk, warm stone, or a muted slate blue on trim and baseboards will tie into the palette naturally without clashing with the central illustration.
