Wallpaper - Maple II

Our Maple II wallpaper, created in collaboration with Crimson Cottage, captures the quiet presence of a grand standalone maple through detailed pencil sketch styling. Rendered in soft graphite grey across a warm off-white, paper-toned backdrop, the artwork relies on fine cross-hatching and directional pencil strokes to define the dense foliage, branching limbs, and distant evergreen landscape. The open negative space around the canopy gives the mural wallpaper a light, breathable feel that works beautifully across an entire accent wall. Like all Wallism wall murals, this design is custom made-to-measure and completely PVC-free.

In the room

Because of its balanced composition and delicate line work, we see Maple II working particularly well on a wider, relatively uninterrupted wall in a living room, bedroom, or dining room. The vertical mass of the tree creates a striking focal anchor behind a low sofa or headboard without visually overwhelming the surrounding space. In rooms with ample natural daylight, the subtle tonal gradations in the graphite shading and the soft warmth of the background become especially distinct. It also brings a calm, grounded atmosphere to a home study or reading nook where a nature-inspired backdrop feels right at home.

Styling it

To complement the hand-drawn character and restrained palette of this wallpaper, we recommend keeping surrounding furnishings simple, warm, and thoughtfully proportioned.

Pairing the design with natural wood tones, such as oiled oak, ash, or warm birch, enhances the organic, pastoral quality of the tree sketch without introducing competing patterns. Choose furniture with clean, low-profile silhouettes so the upper canopy and airy backdrop remain in clear view.

Textiles in muted, unpatterned weaves work best alongside the fine sketch lines. Light linen upholstery, soft wool throws, and simple woven floor coverings help build a cozy, cohesive room without distracting from the detailed pencil work on the wall.

Colour combinations

The palette of Maple II is built around graphite pencil grey, charcoal shadows, and an off-white, lightly warm background tone. This monochrome foundation makes it remarkably versatile when selecting surrounding paint and decor colors.

For adjacent walls and painted trim, we suggest soft chalky whites, pale stone, or light warm greys that mirror the background of the mural. If you want to introduce subtle color into the room, gentle earthy shades like olive green, dusty sage, muted ochre, or warm terracotta work naturally alongside the botanical subject matter. Darker charcoal accents in lighting fixtures or side tables can also echo the deepest pencil tones in the tree trunk.
