Wallpaper - Winter Joy I

Our Winter Joy I wallpaper, designed by Cheryl Warrick, brings festive personality and graphic charm to interior walls. The design centres on the hand-lettered phrase "DECK THE HALLS" set against a deep, speckled dark background dotted with delicate white pine sprigs, holly leaves, and stylized snowflakes. What we particularly like is the playful variety across each individual letterform, where bold red, soft pink, peach, olive, and teal tones are filled with geometric patterns, stripes, and loops. Made to measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this design works beautifully as an expressive seasonal wall mural.

In the room

Because of its bold graphic lettering and festive character, this is one of our mural wallpapers that thrives on a dedicated feature wall. We see it working exceptionally well in an entryway or hallway, welcoming guests with immediate holiday spirit right at the front door. In a dining room or around a breakfast nook, it provides a warm, celebratory backdrop for shared family meals and seasonal gatherings. It also makes a cheerful addition to a family room, playroom, or children's bedroom where the illustrative typography and friendly letterforms feel right at home. Giving the mural a clear, relatively open wall space allows the full phrase and surrounding seasonal illustrations to be enjoyed without visual clutter.

Styling it

When styling around such a distinct and colourful typographical design, we prefer to let the wallpaper act as the primary visual statement in the space. Pairing it with painted furniture or clean-lined, mid-century wooden pieces in natural tones lets the artwork take centre stage while grounding the festive theme.

To complement the hand-drawn look of the motif, bring in soft textiles such as chunky knit throws, simple wool cushions, or unbleached canvas accents. Surrounding the wall with simple greenery, like an evergreen garland or a simple vase of winter branches, echoes the botanical illustrations in the print without competing with the bold letters.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper brings together rich holiday reds and deep evergreen tones alongside softer accents of blush pink, muted olive, coral peach, and jade green, all grounded by a near-black dark background.

When decorating the adjacent walls and trim, you can lean into a cosy, dramatic atmosphere by choosing deep forest green or charcoal paint. If you prefer a lighter and more open feel, warm off-white or soft cream walls provide an easy contrast that makes the dark background of the mural pop. For accent decor, pulling out the dusty rose or warm olive shades found in the lettering creates a cohesive, harmonious room scheme.
