Wallpaper - Borrowed Forms

Created by Mike Schick, our Borrowed Forms wallpaper brings together bold geometric architecture with a painted, modernist sensibility. Strong blocks of charcoal black, soft grey, and off-white establish a structured abstract composition, while vibrant outlines of warm orange, green, and turquoise trace intersecting arches, circles, and straight lines. The painterly surface texture adds depth and warmth across the large-scale shapes, giving the motif a dynamic, gallery-like presence. Made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, it offers a confident graphic statement that transforms any plain wall.

In the room

Because of its generous graphic scale and pronounced contrast, we see this design working especially well on a wide, uninterrupted accent wall in a living room, dining room, or contemporary home office. The composition has enough visual weight to anchor a seating area or define a dining space without needing multiple busy wall decorations around it. In an open-plan setting or a room with high ceilings, the sweeping arches and vertical lines draw the eye upward, giving the space an open, structured architectural feel.

Styling it

When decorating around this design, we suggest keeping surrounding furniture lines clean and uncomplicated so the mural wallpapers remain the primary focal point. Low-profile seating in neutral upholstery, minimal shelving, and simple sculptural forms complement the geometric rhythm of the motif naturally.

To echo the artistic balance, you might bring in subtle accents that reference the finer linework in the artwork, such as a matte black floor lamp or a single ceramic vase in a warm ochre or terracotta tone. Avoid overly busy multi-patterned rugs or heavy wall hangings on adjacent walls, allowing the graphic shapes to breathe.

Colour combinations

The foundation of our wallpaper rests on charcoal black, stone grey, and creamy off-white, enlivened by slender accents of bright orange, vivid green, and sky blue.

For adjacent walls and painted trim, soft chalky whites, warm off-whites, or muted light greys create a seamless and airy backdrop that lets the darker blocks stand out crisply. If you prefer a moodier, more enveloping space, a deep charcoal paint on surrounding woodwork or an adjoining wall ties into the darkest planes of the print. For cushions, throws, or decorative objects, small touches of muted rust, marigold, or teal draw out the colorful outlines without overwhelming the room.
