Wallpaper - On the Pond

Our On the Pond wallpaper, created by Nathan Larson, features an intimate, close-up portrait of a duck captured in quiet profile. Rendered in softened vintage monochrome tones, the bright off-white plumage stands out crisply against a textured, deep charcoal backdrop. What we particularly like about this design is its striking visual scale and gentle personality, turning a classic countryside subject into an expressive focal point. Like all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure.

In the room

Because of the bold, large-scale composition of the portrait, we think this mural wallpaper works best on a wider, relatively uninterrupted wall where the full subject has space to breathe. In an entryway or hallway, it creates an immediate sense of character as soon as you step inside. We also see it working naturally in a dining room, living area, or a quiet study, where the dark background provides visual depth behind low-profile seating or a console table. Giving the subject an open wall area ensures the expressive detail in the feathers and eye remains clearly visible.

Styling it

The balance of soft whites and deep, shadowy tones makes this design versatile across both rustic and tailored interior styles. We would pair our wallpaper with warm natural wood furniture, such as dark oak or aged pine, which complements the nostalgic feel of the photograph. To let the wall mural carry the room's main visual weight, we suggest keeping surrounding decor relatively understated, using matte black metal accents or simple ceramic pieces that echo the dark and light contrast of the motif.

Colour combinations

The design is built around a refined palette of warm off-white, creamy ivory, and deep charcoal with subtle sepia undertones. When painting surrounding walls or woodwork, we recommend continuing the warmth with soft creams, chalky off-whites, or deep slate greys. If you prefer a richer, more enveloping feel, framing the wallpaper with dark charcoal trim or deep stone paint creates an elegant, intentional transition.
