Wallpaper - Peonies in Bloom

Our Peonies in Bloom wallpaper, designed by Crimson Cottage, brings the drama of classic oil painting directly onto the wall. Rendered with expressive, visible brushwork, large peony blossoms open across the surface in soft shades of blush pink, creamy ivory, and warm rose, set against a deep, dark botanical background. We love how the lush petals catch the light with subtle painterly highlights, creating depth without feeling overly delicate. Produced made to measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this floral design makes an expressive statement across both modern and traditional interiors.

In the room

Because of the generous scale of the blossoms and the dark background, we particularly like this design on a feature wall in a bedroom or dining room. Placed behind a headboard, the soft pinks and rich shadows create an intimate, cocooning atmosphere that anchors the entire sleeping space. In a dining room or living room, giving the mural wallpaper an uninterrupted wall allows the full movement of the floral composition to unfold without being broken up by tall cabinetry.

The interplay between the dark backdrop and bright floral highlights responds beautifully to changing light. During the day, natural daylight brings out the delicate peach and rose undertones within the petals, while warm lamplight in the evening deepens the contrast, making the floral forms feel especially warm and atmospheric.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we recommend balancing its rich painterly character with quiet, grounded interior elements. Furniture in warm, natural wood tones such as walnut, cherry, or stained ash connects naturally with the depth of the background. For upholstered pieces, low-sheen fabrics in warm neutrals, oatmeal, or muted olive green keep the focus on the floral artwork.

To bring out the romantic character of the motif without overwhelming the room, you can introduce subtle metallic accents like aged brass, antique bronze, or brushed gold in lighting fixtures and cabinet hardware. Keeping surrounding patterns minimal allows the expressive brushstrokes of the wall murals to remain the undisputed focal point of the space.

Colour combinations

The palette of our wallpaper is built around blush pink, warm ivory, soft peach, and deep garden green, anchored by rich charcoal and umber tones in the shadows.

To create a balanced interior, we suggest pulling from these core tones for surrounding surfaces. Pairing the design with warm ivory, soft biscuit, or dusty rose on adjacent painted walls keeps the room feeling gentle and cohesive. If you prefer a more dramatic, enveloping aesthetic, paint the surrounding walls, ceiling, or trim in a dark forest green or deep charcoal that echoes the wallpaper's shadowy background.
