Wallpaper - Darling Clementine

Our Darling Clementine wallpaper brings together a classic still life composition created by Julia Purinton, featuring three vibrant clementines resting together with deep green leaves against a dark, painterly background. What we especially like about this design is the contrast between the rich, luminous orange tones of the fruit and the moody, shadowed atmosphere behind them. The painted texture gives the motif a quiet, timeless presence on the wall. Produced as made-to-measure mural wallpapers on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical paper structure, this design is simple to hang and creates an expressive focal point in your interior.

In the room

Because of the focused, large-scale composition of the still life, we see this wall mural working especially well on an accent wall where the motif can be viewed without heavy visual interruption. In a dining room or kitchen dining space, placing the wallpaper along a main dining wall creates an intimate and welcoming atmosphere for shared meals. It also works beautifully in a sitting room, library, or study, positioned behind a sofa or low credenza where the warm tones of the fruit can anchor the room. Giving the design a relatively clear wall area lets the subtle brushwork and dramatic contrast between light and shadow establish the mood of the space.

Styling it

When styling around this design, we prefer to echo its classic warmth with considered, unpretentious materials. Warm wood furniture, such as stained oak, walnut, or vintage timber pieces, naturally complements the deep background tones and earthy tabletop in the artwork.

To keep the visual focus balanced, we would keep surrounding large upholstered pieces in understated, textural fabrics. Linen cushions, wool throws in muted charcoal or taupe, and quiet matte finishes allow the intense orange and leafy greens in the wallpaper to stand out without competing for attention.

Colour combinations

The central palette within our wallpaper features saturated orange and deep ochre, balanced by botanical green leaves and a backdrop shifting between charcoal, muted umber, and soft olive undertones.

For surrounding walls and woodwork, we recommend pairing the design with warm off-whites, soft greys, or muted stone tones to keep the room grounded. If you prefer a richer and more enveloping space, picking up the deeper background shades with dark olive, charcoal brown, or deep slate on adjacent walls creates an exceptionally cosy, cohesive feel.
