Wallpaper - Neutral Coils IV

Our Neutral Coils IV wallpaper, designed in collaboration with artist June Erica Vess, brings bold graphic movement to the wall through flowing, undulating ribbons of charcoal black set against a warm, sandy beige background. What we especially like about this design is the balance between its confident, sweeping linework and the textured, organic feel of the background surface. The continuous, labyrinthine coils create a dynamic visual rhythm that draws the eye across the entire surface without overwhelming the room. Printed as made-to-measure wallpaper on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical paper structure, it offers a striking, contemporary art statement for modern interiors.

In the room

Because of the sweeping movement and scale of the coiled ribbons, we see this design working particularly well on a wide, uninterrupted accent wall in a living room, dining area, or primary bedroom. In a living room, placing it behind a low-profile sofa gives the pattern room to breathe and flow naturally across the wall. It also functions wonderfully behind a bed in a minimalist bedroom, where the warm neutral tones create an inviting backdrop while the bold black brushwork anchors the space. For open-plan layouts or an entryway, using our mural wallpapers on a focal wall establishes an immediate sense of considered design without requiring heavy decorative clutter.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we recommend keeping the surrounding furniture relatively quiet and grounded so the graphic linework remains the primary focus. Low-slung furniture in black metal or darker wood, such as stained oak, creates a natural dialogue with the dark coils in the motif.

To complement the warm, earthy undertones of the backdrop, pair the design with simple, unpatterned textiles in oat, stone, or natural linen. Introducing smooth ceramics or matte stone objects provides a pleasing contrast to the painterly visual texture of the wall without competing with its rhythm.

Colour combinations

The foundation of our wallpaper combines deep charcoal and soft black with an earthy backdrop of tan, sand, and warm putty.

To build a cohesive room scheme around these tones, we suggest pairing the wall with surrounding paint shades in soft off-white, light greige, or warm stone. If you prefer a richer, more dramatic atmosphere, introducing deep charcoal, espresso, or warm bronze accents on trims, cabinetry, or furniture will highlight the dark linework and tie the entire space together.
