Wallpaper - Desert Rains

Our Desert Rains wallpaper, created by Kathy Ferguson, captures a quiet desert landscape in the wake of a seasonal storm. Saguaro cacti and low desert scrub stand along sandy banks, mirrored in a clear pool of rainwater that reflects soft cloud cover and patches of open sky. The painted composition balances warm earth tones, sandy beige, and muted olive greens against cool sky blues and soft greys. Printed made to measure on PVC-free paper, this wall mural brings an expansive, scenic perspective to your interior while maintaining a gentle, grounded palette.

In the room

We see this scenic design working especially well in a living room, dining area, or primary bedroom where a wider, uninterrupted wall gives the full landscape and water reflection room to unfold. The horizontal split between the desert terrain and the pool in the foreground creates a natural sense of depth, drawing the eye across the space. In rooms with generous daylight, the contrast between the sunlit sand and the cool reflections in the water becomes more pronounced, while warmer evening lamp light brings forward the earthy ochre and olive tones in the foliage.

Styling it

To keep the visual focus on the painted landscape, we recommend pairing this wallpaper with furniture that has clean, low profiles and uncluttered silhouettes. Low-backed sofas, open credenzas, or a simple headboard allow the vertical reach of the cacti and the open sky to remain visible. In terms of materials, warm natural wood such as walnut, oak, or teak complements the desert palette without competing with the detailed brushwork. Surrounding textiles in textured linen or woven wool in unbleached, sandy tones help ground the room comfortably.

Colour combinations

The artwork brings together a balanced palette of warm sand, dusty sage, olive green, muted clay, and reflective slate blues. When choosing paint for adjacent walls or trim, warm off-white, soft oatmeal, or pale desert sand creates a calm, continuous backdrop that lets the mural take center stage. For a slightly bolder contrast, drawing on the deeper olive and russet tones found in the brush and rocky ridges works nicely on cabinetry, interior doors, or accent upholstery.
