Wallpaper - The Horse Aga Black and White

Our The Horse Aga Black and White wallpaper brings together a fine sketch-style horse portrait framed by a classic plaid tartan border. The central illustration captures the head and neck of a horse in delicate pencil-drawn line work and soft tonal shading, set against a calm, textured paper-look background. Around the portrait, a muted beige and soft grey check border provides a tailored architectural structure, balancing the freehand sketch with classic pattern. Made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, our wallpaper creates an elegant focal point for spaces that appreciate equestrian heritage and quiet, timeless detailing.

In the room

We see this mural wallpaper working particularly well on a central feature wall in a living room, dining room, study, or master bedroom. Because the composition centres on a portrait framed by an outer plaid border, it commands attention when positioned on an uninterrupted wall, such as behind a headboard, above a low console, or facing an entryway. The restrained palette keeps the visual weight balanced, ensuring the design enriches the space without overwhelming surrounding architectural elements.

Styling it

To complement the equestrian theme and tailored border, we would pair this design with classic or transitional interior pieces. Natural wood furniture, such as warm oak or deeper walnut, harmonizes naturally with the heritage feel. Upholstery in textured fabrics like wool, linen, or soft leather reflects the equestrian inspiration and balances the fine line work of the sketch. Matte black metal accents or traditional bronze hardware can echo the dark pencil tones of the illustration.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on quiet neutral tones: charcoal and graphite pencil shades, creamy off-white, and warm, muted beige-grey in the plaid frame. To complement these shades, we suggest surrounding the wallpaper with warm off-whites, soft oatmeal, or muted stone on adjacent walls. For a richer, more tailored scheme, deeper heritage accents such as olive green, dark taupe, or charcoal can pick up on the darker tones in the drawing.
