Wallpaper - Going it Alone I

Photographer Nathan Larson captures a striking open landscape in our Going it Alone I wall mural, framing a solitary cow standing among dry desert brush against a backdrop of rolling mountains. The panoramic composition balances wide, pale skies and soft desert terrain with the gentle presence of the single animal. Muted earth tones, dusty taupe, warm beige, and faded purple shadows create an expansive, serene mood across the wall. Produced to your exact dimensions, this PVC-free mural wallpaper brings a calm, cinematic horizon into the home while retaining subtle paper texture.

In the room

Because of its broad horizontal horizon and distant mountain range, we find this wallpaper mural works best on a wide, uninterrupted wall where the full panorama can unfold. In a living room or behind a low sofa, the wide sky helps keep the upper half of the room feeling airy, while the textured brush in the foreground anchors the lower section. It also works beautifully along a bedroom feature wall behind a low headboard or across an expansive dining room wall, where the scale and depth of the desert view create a tranquil focal point without overwhelming everyday living spaces.

Styling it

To complement the open landscape, we recommend keeping the surrounding furnishings grounded, simple, and relaxed. Low-profile furniture ensures the mountain silhouette and sky remain the visual focus of the space.

Warm, natural wood furniture such as reclaimed oak, teak, or pine pairs naturally with the rugged desert tones of the brush. For textiles, heavy unbleached linens, woven wool throws, and neutral flatweave floor rugs in sand or oat echo the organic textures in the photograph without competing for attention. Matte black metal accents or weathered ceramic table lamps add subtle, grounded contrast against the pale backdrop.

Colour combinations

The design draws on a restrained, sun-bleached palette of warm sand, pale desert beige, dry sage, and subtle mauve-grey tones in the mountain shadows. To complement these shades, we suggest pairing the wallpaper with warm off-white or creamy plaster tones on adjacent walls and ceiling surfaces. Earthy accents in terracotta, warm cinnamon, or charcoal will pick up the darker tones of the cow and low brush, creating a balanced and cohesive interior.
