Wallpaper - Vintage English Countryside I

Our Vintage English Countryside I wallpaper captures an expansive landscape under dramatic, cloud-filled skies, brought to life with a painterly, oil-canvas visual character. The composition features sweeping fields in earthy olive and muted ochre tones, balanced by softly rendered trees to the right and a distant horizon bathed in warm, diffuse light. What we particularly like about this design is the balance between the open atmosphere of the overcast sky and the grounded depth of the meadow below. Like all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure to your exact wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because of its broad panoramic perspective, we see this mural wallpaper working particularly well on a wide, uninterrupted wall where the full horizon line and expansive sky can unfold naturally. In a living room or behind a dining table, the atmospheric landscape creates a sense of openness and visual depth without overwhelming the space. The lower contrast and softened brushwork also make it a wonderful backdrop for a bedroom, especially on the wall behind the headboard where the muted tones establish a gentle, grounded presence.

In rooms with ample natural light, the subtle shifts between the warm sky tones and mossy greens become especially clear. For spaces with softer evening lighting, the deeper greys and earthy ochres take on an intimate, enveloping quality.

Styling it

When styling around this design, we prefer to keep large furniture pieces relatively simple to let the landscape carry the room. Classic, traditional, or rustic interior styles feel particularly natural alongside the painterly scenery, but it also sits comfortably in understated contemporary spaces that embrace organic textures.

Warm wood furniture, such as dark oak or aged walnut, echoes the earthy undertones of the foreground, while upholstery in plain linen or soft wool creates an easy, tactile balance. To keep the focus on the artwork, we would avoid busy competing patterns on nearby rugs or curtains, choosing solid, textured weaves instead.

Colour combinations

The palette within our wallpaper is built around muted olive and moss greens, warm biscuit ochres, hazy cream highlights, and soft slate-grey cloud tones.

When choosing paint colors for adjacent walls and woodwork, we recommend pulling directly from these earthy neutrals. A warm off-white or soft linen shade on adjoining walls keeps the room feeling bright and open, allowing the mural to serve as the natural focal point. For a more cohesive, heritage-inspired look, deeper muted greens or warm stone tones on baseboards, door frames, or surrounding cabinetry frame the landscape beautifully.
