Wallpaper - Dappled Light I

Our Dappled Light I wallpaper by June Erica Vess brings together broad, painterly brushstrokes in soft denim blues, sea greens, misty aquas, and subtle touches of pale coral and cream. The composition is built from overlapping horizontal and vertical washes of color, creating a gentle visual rhythm reminiscent of sunlight filtering across water or foliage. What we particularly like about this abstract design is the fluid balance between cooler slate and teal tones and the warm blush accents that peek through the layers. Produced as a made-to-measure mural on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture, it offers an artistic backdrop that feels both serene and visually engaging.

In the room

Because the pattern is abstract and painterly without rigid repeating geometry, we see this working beautifully across an expansive living room feature wall or behind a headboard in a tranquil bedroom. In larger rooms, the full sweep of the brushwork and the varying color densities have space to unfold naturally. In more compact settings like a hallway, dressing room, or quiet study, the softer palette prevents the wall from feeling closed in while still adding layered visual interest. Under abundant natural daylight, the gentle shifts between sage green, sky blue, and coral become particularly lively, while softer evening lighting brings a cozier, more muted depth to the deeper blue passages.

Styling it

To let the expressive brushwork remain the focal point, we would style this design with simple furniture shapes and understated surrounding finishes. Low-profile seating in neutral linen or oatmeal upholstery creates a grounded setting, allowing the blues and greens in the wallpaper to carry the color story of the room. Warm, lighter wood finishes such as ash, birch, or natural white oak complement the delicate coral and cream brushstrokes, introducing a soft organic warmth without competing with the cooler watercolor tones.

Colour combinations

The design itself is anchored by a verified palette of slate blue, soft denim, sage green, sky blue, muted coral, and warm off-white. For surrounding elements, adjacent walls painted in a soft, chalky off-white or a very pale grey-green let the wallpaper transition smoothly into the rest of the interior. If you prefer deeper contrast, styling with accents or painted woodwork in a rich muted indigo or charcoal green can pull out the darkest brushstrokes in the mural and give the space a more structured architectural edge.
