Wallpaper - Color Clef II

Created by June Erica Vess, our Color Clef II wallpaper brings an expressive, painterly energy to the wall through broad gestural brushstrokes and soft layered washes. Dynamic sweeps of sky blue, slate grey, and chalky white create an open, airy movement, punctuated by grounded accents of warm terracotta, muted ochre, and soft blush. What we particularly like about this design is the balance between fluid, sweeping motion and structured earthy blocks of color, giving the composition the visual character of an expressive abstract painting. Printed made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, our mural wallpapers are straightforward to hang and make a striking visual centerpiece.

In the room

Because of its expressive scale and sweeping movement, we see this design working especially well on a wide, uninterrupted feature wall where the entire abstract composition has space to unfold. In a living room behind a low sofa or across a dedicated dining area wall, the generous blue and white brushwork creates an open visual atmosphere without overwhelming the room. The composition also adapts well to a bedroom setting behind a headboard, where the cooler blue tones establish a calm, balanced backdrop while the warm terracotta and olive touches introduce subtle depth.

Styling it

To keep the focus on the gestural artwork, we recommend pairing this wallpaper with furniture that features clean, modern silhouettes and quiet finishes. Low-profile seating in neutral linen or textured woven upholstery lets the expressive strokes take center stage without visual competition.

For surrounding materials, warm wood tones like natural oak or walnut echo the earthy brown and ochre marks in the motif, bridging the cooler sky blues with the rest of the interior. Matte black or brushed bronze metal accents on lighting and slim furniture frames can also help ground the airy palette and reflect the darker charcoal elements in the artwork.

Colour combinations

The palette of our wallpaper is anchored by a range of soft blues, chalky white, and slate grey, balanced by grounded touches of terracotta, warm umber, and muted olive green.

When choosing paint for adjacent walls or trim, off-white or soft warm grey creates a smooth, cohesive transition that keeps the space feeling bright and expansive. If you prefer a richer, more enveloping feel, pulling a deep slate blue or a warm clay brown from the motif onto surrounding woodwork or accent textiles creates a thoughtful, tailored connection throughout the room.
