Wallpaper - Cabbage White Butterfly

Our Cabbage White Butterfly wallpaper, created by Mackenzie Nelson, centres on an expressive painted study of a delicate white butterfly set against a warm, painterly terracotta-pink backdrop. The motif highlights the gentle character of the wings with creamy off-white tones, soft beige undertones, and striking dark charcoal and black wingtip markings and spots. Painted brushwork textures give the composition an authentic, artistic depth with a balanced visual scale that anchors a room without overwhelming it. Like all our wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We love how this mural wallpaper creates a warm, inviting focal point on a main feature wall. In a bedroom, placing it behind the headboard grounds the space in soft, natural character while keeping the atmosphere calm and balanced. It works equally well on an accent wall in a living room, dining area, or creative home study where the painterly detail of the butterfly can be appreciated up close. Because the background carries a warm, textured brushstroke effect, the design brings depth to both compact rooms and larger spaces with generous daylight, where the delicate contrasts across the wings subtly come forward.

Styling it

When styling around this design, we suggest letting the painterly motif lead the mood while keeping larger surrounding elements relatively calm.

• Pair the warm terracotta background with warm mid-tone wood or painted furniture in creamy off-white to maintain an organic, grounded feel across the room.
• Introduce soft, natural woven textiles like unbleached linen or textured wool in neutral tones to complement the quiet elegance of the wings.
• Add small, purposeful accents in matte black or dark bronze to subtly echo the dark details and antennae of the butterfly illustration.

Colour combinations

The palette within our wallpaper is built around a warm, earthy terracotta-pink ground contrasted by creamy off-white, soft beige, and defined charcoal and black details. To build a cohesive room palette, we recommend pairing this wallpaper with warm alabaster, muted clay, or soft cream on adjacent walls and trim. If you want to introduce subtle contrast, muted sage greens or earthy ochre accents in cushions and ceramics sit naturally alongside the terracotta background.
