Wallpaper - Whos at The Door

Created by Kate Jarvik Birch, our Whos at The Door wallpaper brings a narrative, painterly charm to the wall with its scene of an inquisitive ginger cat peeking out from behind a deep green door. We particularly like the bold contrast between the shadowy doorway, the rich olive and leaf green tones of the wood, and the warm orange coat of the cat. The brushstroke texture gives the motif a lively, illustrative character that feels both playful and artistic. Like all of our wallpapers, this mural is made to measure to your wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper texture.

In the room

We love this design in spaces that benefit from an intimate, welcoming visual accent. In an entryway or hallway, placing this mural on a wall near an actual doorway or at the end of a corridor creates a charming visual interplay between the artwork and the architecture of the home.

In a study, living room, or reading nook, the motif works wonderfully as a feature wall behind a low armchair or bench. Because the composition balances deep shadows with vibrant green and warm ginger tones, it holds visual presence without requiring large, complicated furniture arrangements around it.

Styling it

To let the expressive character of the artwork take centre stage, we suggest pairing this design with quiet, natural materials. Warm timber tones like mid-tone oak or honey pine echo the golden hues in the cat's fur, while simple painted furniture in matte charcoal or muted sage complements the door in the illustration.

Keep textiles and upholstery understated with solid weaves, allowing the graphic brushwork of the mural to supply the primary visual detail in the room.

Colour combinations

The palette in our design centres on rich emerald and olive greens paired with warm ginger, soft cream, and deep charcoal shadows.

Around the mural, surrounding walls in soft off-white, warm linen, or pale moss green create a cohesive and grounded backdrop. For accent pieces or trim, deep forest green or muted rust can echo the core tones of the painting without overwhelming the room.
