Wallpaper - Playing A Fish

Our Playing A Fish wallpaper mural captures a quiet, contemplative scene on the water, rendered with the painterly brushwork of a classic fine-art landscape. At the centre of the composition, an angler in a canoe plays a catch with a bent rod, anchored against a wide horizon of deep forest greens, soft teal hills, and warm, pale water reflections. What we particularly appreciate in this design is the balance between the detailed central motif and the generous, atmospheric water and sky. Printed to your specific wall dimensions on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, it creates a serene focal point in any room.

In the room

Because the composition relies on an open horizon and a distinct central canoe, we see this wall mural working especially well on an uninterrupted feature wall where the landscape has space to unfold. In a living room, placing this wallpaper behind a low-backed sofa allows the tranquil water reflections to ground the seating area while keeping the fisherman and distant shoreline fully visible above. It also brings an inviting, peaceful character to a study or home office, setting a reflective tone across from a desk. In a dining room or guest bedroom, the horizontal landscape format helps visually widen the space, lending a calm, timeless presence across the main wall.

Styling it

To complement the classic painted feel of the motif, we suggest pairing this design with furniture that shares its quiet craftsmanship and grounded weight.

• Choose warm or darker wood tones, such as oiled walnut or aged oak, which echo the deep tones of the boat and the warmth of the shoreline.
• Keep surrounding upholstery and rugs understated in woven, unpatterned textures like neutral wool or simple linen to avoid competing with the fine brushstrokes.
• Introduce understated accents in antique brass, bronze, or matte dark metal to subtly pick up on the deep lines in the canoe and fishing rod.

Colour combinations

The palette of our mural wallpaper is built around muted nature tones, combining deep charcoal and slate blues in the canoe with olive greens, muted teal, and warm beige and cream throughout the water and sky. For adjacent walls, soft warm whites, pale linen tones, or gentle stone greys work naturally alongside the lighter areas of the painting. If you prefer a richer, more enveloping feel, pulling a deep moss green, warm taupe, or dark charcoal from the foreground boat for woodwork and surrounding trim creates a beautifully framed, cohesive interior.
