Wallpaper - Lakeside I

Our Lakeside I wallpaper mural, created by Leslie Trimbach, brings an illustrated lakeside scene to the wall with a relaxed, watercolor-like appearance. The composition features a wooden canoe resting along the shoreline with an oar, framed by cattails, leafy trees, and the quote "LIFE is better at the LAKE" across the upper sky. Wildlife details, including jumping fish, flying mallards, floating water lilies, and blueberry sprigs, give the scene a charming rustic character. Soft watery blues, muted sage greens, warm sandy beiges, and soft slate tones form an easygoing palette against a textured-paper background effect. Produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, our mural wallpapers are straightforward to hang and make a distinctive scenic accent.

In the room

Because this design is a scenic wall mural with typography and a defined foreground, we see it working particularly well as a focal accent wall. In a living room or family sitting area, giving the mural an open, uninterrupted wall allows the canoe, shoreline, and landscape details to display fully without visual interruption.

It also works naturally in an entryway, mudroom, guest bedroom, or a relaxed home office, where the calm water elements and nature motif set an inviting, rustic tone. When planning furniture placement, we recommend keeping lower storage benches, low bed frames, or console tables below the main canoe and typography lines so the central illustration remains clear.

Styling it

To complement the lakeside theme, we would pair this wallpaper with warm, natural wood finishes such as pine, light oak, or reclaimed timber that echo the canoe and wooded shoreline. Furniture with classic, unpretentious silhouettes keeps the focus on the illustrated scene.

Surrounding textiles in simple, tactile weaves like washed cotton or unbleached canvas work well to reinforce the cabin-inspired feel. For decorative accents, consider matte black metal hardware, vintage ceramic jugs, or woven baskets that harmonize with the muted slate and earthy tones in the print.

Colour combinations

The design is built around a gentle palette of misty blues, soft river-slate, sage and forest greens, and sandy beige neutrals.

For adjacent walls and woodwork, soft off-whites with warm undertones or pale, stony greiges maintain a bright, cohesive room feel. If you prefer deeper contrast on surrounding cabinetry or trim, a muted slate blue or deep evergreen picked out from the water and foliage provides a grounded, tailored finish.
