Wallpaper - Kasumi Garden, Honey Ochre

Designed by Marta Cortese, our Kasumi Garden, Honey Ochre wallpaper brings a rich Japanese-inspired garden scene into the home. A warm, golden ochre backdrop filled with soft mist-like clouds sets the stage for lush clusters of blossoming peonies, delicate irises, bellflowers, and slender bamboo shoots. Along the base, stylised scalloped borders in deep indigo and gold anchor the composition, giving this wall mural a striking balance between intricate floral detail and open space above. Like all our wallpapers, this mural wallpaper is made to measure to your exact wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture.

In the room

We see this design making an immediate impression on a prominent living room wall, where the full landscape panorama has room to unfold across a wide, uninterrupted surface. Because the dense botanical detail is gathered across the lower half, furniture such as a sofa, low sideboard, or dining table sits naturally in front of it without concealing the taller bamboo and cloudy sky. In a bedroom, Kasumi Garden makes a captivating feature wall behind the bed, framing the headboard with blooming flowers while keeping the upper half of the wall light and balanced. In a formal dining room or a dedicated study, the warm honey background creates an inviting, enveloping atmosphere that feels grounded and full of character.

Styling it

To let the illustrative detail of the wallpaper take center stage, we suggest pairing it with clean-lined furniture in darker woods such as walnut or smoked oak, which echo the deeper tones in the bamboo and foliage. Alternatively, warm mid-century teak or black lacquered accents highlight the graphic contrast of the scalloped navy base. For surrounding textiles, heavy linen or velvet upholstery in muted neutrals, indigo, or soft blush harmonises with the floral palette without competing with the intricate botanicals.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper is built upon a warm honey ochre foundation, accented by deep indigo navy, soft blush pinks, rose red, pure white, and varying tones of moss and olive green. On adjoining painted walls, we recommend pulling out the gentle warmth of the background with soft cream, warm linen, or light biscuit tones to create a cohesive wrap of color. If you want a more dramatic, contrasting feel, painting trim, doors, or adjacent walls in deep ink blue or muted charcoal draws directly from the base of the mural and frames the golden backdrop beautifully.
