Wallpaper - Kasumi Garden, Lacquer Red

Our Kasumi Garden, Lacquer Red wallpaper, designed by Marta Cortese, presents an intricate botanical garden layered against a deep lacquer-red background. Soft white, cream, and blush blossoms, slender bamboo shoots, and delicate floral stems rise from stylized cloud-like hills along the base, creating a rhythmic and detailed panoramic mural. Subtle textural shading across the background gives the scene gentle depth and visual warmth. Like all our wall murals, this design is made to measure to your exact wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because the botanical interest rises upward from the lower half into a quieter, atmospheric upper wall, we see this design working beautifully on a main feature wall in a living room, dining room, or bedroom. In a bedroom, placing the design behind a low headboard lets the dense garden scenery anchor the room while allowing the tall bamboo stalks and misty clouds to frame the space above. In a dining area or wide hallway, giving the pattern an uninterrupted wall allows the full panorama to unfold naturally across the space.

Styling it

The rich, deep backdrop and delicate floral illustrations invite thoughtful, grounded styling choices. We would look to warm, natural wood furniture, such as stained oak or walnut, to balance the visual weight of the lacquer red ground. Low-profile seating or minimalist consoles keep sightlines clear, ensuring the intricate base of the mural remains visible. Surrounding textiles in neutral, unpatterned weaves in linen or raw cotton provide a soft visual counterpoint without competing with the detailed floral foreground.

Colour combinations

The palette is defined by its deep lacquer red backdrop, illuminated by cream, ivory, soft blush, and muted brown botanicals with small touches of dusty blue-grey and soft taupe in the lower mounds. When choosing colors for adjacent painted walls or architectural trim, we recommend warm off-whites, soft almond, or gentle biscuit tones that draw out the creamy floral highlights. For a richer, more enveloping feel, consider deep burgundy, warm clay, or earthy cocoa on adjacent woodwork and doors.
